Spanish State Schools

Providing your child is not approaching GCSE and A level examinations, then you should seriously consider entering your child into the Spanish state education system.

The local schools are good and are accustomed to taking in students who do not speak Spanish. They will receive full support and encouragement and in only a few months will be speaking and reading fluently in Spanish.

The local council has a duty to find you a school place and if you have to travel more than a few kilometers to school they will also often provide free transport and school meals – although you will be expected to pay for your children’s school books.

International Schools

If however, you would prefer to pay for a private education with the taught language being English then there are a number of schools in the Valencia and Northern Costa Blanca regions with excellent reputations, including The Lady Elizabeth School in Javea/Lliber, and The British School Alzira near Valencia.

As an ever increasing number of younger English immigrants choose to settle in Spain places at all schools are starting to come under pressure. So please remember to enquire about schooling at an early stage of your planned move to Spain.
